vext01 I love Chatwin's unique sound. I've been a fan ever since I stumbled across Heat and Entropy on Bandcamp.

I think The Hum is his best work to date, taking the listener on an emotional journey through the ever present electromagnetic background fuzz of the world around us.

A great album and I look forward to more from Chatwin. Favorite track: Creep Strain.

Seajewlz All of Ben Chatwins work is superb. This album, however stands out as one of his best. It needs to be listened to as a full album for the full immersion experience into sound as the tracks evolve as if telling a complex story. A journey into the depths of the mind. Five stars from me

Mick Buckingham (Muttley SV) I've been a fan of artists like Ben Chatwin since around 2010. In its dialectical tactics, the instruments on "The Hum" are sonically onomatopeaic in the sense that they sound like what they are aiming to evoke. With resilient tactics, the dark drones rise out of stained glass outsides, continually gathering a hypnotic glaze. Some of the best darkness I've heard in the vein of Talvihorros - Descent Into Delta.

about

The Hum is Chatwin's sixth solo album of experimental electronic music under his own name and his eleventh in total. It amplifies the hidden frequencies that swirl invisibly around us in the air all the time but which most of us never hear, including the 50Hz hum of the power grid that producers will know all too well from the studio, but is almost undetectable to the human ear.

"There are so many sounds around us that are lower and higher than we can hear," Ben says. "I wanted to make it all audible."

Taking inspiration from Mika Vainio's physical sound worlds and Jóhann Jóhannsson's immersive soundtracks, The Hum's emotive accumulations and caustic textures form dense stratas, with strings and analogue synths harnessed as melodic anchor points among electric storms of pulsating sound.
